Star    What is Line Dancing?

Line Dancing is a repeated set of steps usually danced in several rows of people.

Star     I have never danced before. How do I learn the steps?

At Country Knights, the instructor will describe each step of the dance and will provide the opportunity to practice these steps before the music is played. The instructor will also call each step during the music until everyone is completely comfortable with the sequence.

Star     I am worried about going wrong.

Line Dancing is a fun, social activity and at Country Knights we all dance to enjoy ourselves.

Even the most experienced dancers make mistakes from time to time but, often, this can be the cause of the most laughter!

If you are a beginner, you might find it takes a while for your brain and feet to coordinate but, with practice, you will improve. Just be patient with yourself and try to relax. Everybody was a Beginner once!

Star     Do I need a partner for Line Dancing?

A partner is not necessary for Line Dancing so you can come on your own or with a group of friends. Either way, you'll meet lots of new people!

Star     What clothes should I wear?

Although Line Dancing has it roots in Country and Western, Line Dancers don't all wear gingham and stetsons! It's advisable to wear something that is loose fitting. You might also want to wear a few layers so you can peel some off when you get hot!

Star     What shoes should I wear?

Shoes should be both comfortable and functional. Avoid shoes that don't have a back to them as these can be dangerous especially when dancing to music with a faster beat.

Star     Do you only dance to Country music?

Although Line Dancing has it's foundations in Country music, it has evolved significantly since it first began. Line Dancing now uses a variety of different music including Pop, Irish, Latin, Classical and many others.

Star     Where can I get the music?

Most of the music played at Country Knights can be found on the ITunes web site.

Star     I have joint problems. Will I still be able to dance?

Yes, although you may have to adapt some of the steps and our instructor will always be happy to offer alternatives. Never push your body into doing something that is uncomfortable and always consult your Doctor before undergoing any new form of exercise

Star     Can children attend the Line Dancing class?

Although our classes are aimed primarily at adults, children are welcome to attend (maximum of two children to one full paying adult). The cost will be half that of a full paying adult. Children are deemed as those under 18.

Star     Can I bring my own drinks to the classes?

Tea and Coffee are available at all of our classes for a small cover charge (20p) but you can bring your own drinks if you would prefer. It is important to drink lots of fluid when dancing, especially in the hot weather.

There is usually a bar at our socials so we ask that you do not bring your own drinks. More literature about our socials can be found on our Events page.

Star     I can't remember the steps but want to practice at home.

We provide free steps sheets for every dance taught at Country Knights. You can take these home with you to keep. Alternatively, you can email us and request a copy of a particular step sheet and we will email it back to you.

Star     Why do you ask for my Date of Birth on the registration form.

At Country Knights, we ask you to complete a small registration form the first time you dance with us. The includes the day and month that you were born. We ask for this information so that we can give you a free lesson on or around your birthday. We don't ask for the year you were born so we don't know your age!!

All details are kept private and you are not obliged to provide us with any information you don't feel comfortable in giving.

Star     My photograph is on your web page. I would like it removed.

If your photograph is on our web page and you would like it removed, firstly, please accept our apologies that this has been published. We will be happy to remove it. Please email us and tell us exactly which photograph it is and where in the photo you appear.
